International Year of Mountains

Designed in 2001, the International Year Of Mountains logo was used to celebrate all of Canada's amazing mountains. It was quite an accolade for me to see a logo I had designed hanging from banners in every mountain town. Even now, up at the The Columbia Icefield Interpretive Centre at the toe of the Athabasca glacier in Jasper, Alberta, the banner still hangs.

Welcome to my website, or more accurately, what is currently here. I have uploaded this site as a 'work-in-progress' as it is miles better than what I used to have as my old site, which just happened to be a picture. If something is not here yet, it will be soon. I am working hard to get it online and working as a fully functioning site.

Soon the snow will be falling in Lethbridge and the holiday shopping season will be kicking into high gear. Most likely all of our favorite stores will be decked out in full seasonal fair, the soft hum of that Jazz rendition of Jingle Bells will be piped over the sound system. Now is the time to figure out what your holiday advertising routes will be and put those plans into motion to ensure you get the best value for your advertising budget. Make the most of the holiday shopping season by preparing now and getting into your clients' minds before they know they are looking for you. A little advertising at this time of the year can go a long way. If you're not sure how to proceed coming into this holiday season, you may consider booking a consultation session with Pixalis to help you focus your efforts.

The New Pixalis Website - 01/11/2010
Websites for your own business are the hardest to build and this goes doubly for a graphic designer. I had gone through five or ten revisions on this site before I came close to the look and the feel that I was hoping for. I had gone from "Ultra Corporate" to "Ultra-Stylized" and sitting at my computer one night a few weeks ago I realised that my website should reflect my personality, as it is my personality that creates the unique advertising for my customers. Do they come to my site to be wowed by moving pictures and flashy video of people talking to you from the sidebar? No, you have come to my site looking for what I do. I decided to present it in the most direct method possible. Advertising is all about seconds, not minutes. In this modern world you need to find exactly what your looking for and quickly.

I look forward to sharing with you my thoughts on trends, marketing, websites and design. I'm hoping that you will find some great ideas for design and learn some things along the way. I want this website experience to be a social one. I am involved with all my clients work. I wanted that to show in my website redesign. Come back often. I plan on changing the way you will look at a graphic and design firm. I want you to understand advertising, I don't want anyone to be afraid of it.
